Abstract

Finkelstein’s test is a diagnostic manoeuvre that is used for diagnosing De Quervain’s tenosynovitis. To perform Finkelstein’s test, the patient is asked to flex their fingers over their thumb and while in this position the clinician rotates the patient’s wrist in an ulnar direction. If this results in sharp pain radiating along their thumb and wrist, Finkelstein’s test is positive. Phalen and Tinel’s test are used to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome.
