A 22-year-old man presents with right iliac fossa pain for the past 2 days. The patient describes the pain as an ‘ache’ with no radiation. He has slight nausea but no vomiting. On examination, his temperature is 37.4°C, his pulse is 96 bpm and his blood pressure is 127/78 mmHg. His abdomen is soft but tender all over with rebound tenderness and positive Rovsing’s sign.
