Abstract

Answer A. Hypercalcaemia
There are many differential diagnoses associated with memory loss. Several blood tests should be arranged. Abnormalities associated with cognitive impairment include hypercalcaemia, thyroid dysfunction, vitamin deficiencies (notably vitamin b12 and folate) and hypoglycaemia. The other options do not cause cognitive impairment. Other diagnoses associated with cognitive impairment include delirium, depression, Wernicke’s encephalopathy and drug toxicity.
