Abstract

Answer E. Topical vaginal oestrogen
Urogenital atrophy is very common and symptoms include vaginal dryness leading to dyspareunia. Vaginal itching and irritation are also reported. The vagina becomes thin, dry and fragile. This can be effectively managed by topical vaginal oestrogen. Moisturisers can also be used in conjunction with oestrogen. There is no role for anti-fungal cream here and steroid ointment will thin the skin even more so should not be used. There are no symptoms suggesting a urinary tract infection.
