Abstract

Answer A. Abdominal ultrasound scan
The description is suggestive of gallstones. Ultrasonography is non-invasive and easily available in general practice. It is the imaging of choice for certain pathologies, including gallstones, abdominal aortic aneurysm or abnormalities of the spleen or liver, but use is limited by the body habitus of the patient, bowel gas and the experience of the operator.
