Abstract

Answer C. Refer the patient for computerised tomography (CT) scan of the head within 8 hours
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for management of head injury provide clear indications for computerized tomography (CT) scan. It advises that all patients with a head injury who are on anticoagulation therapies, such as warfarin or novel oral anticoagulants (such as rivaroxaban), should undergo a CT scan of the head within 8 hours of assessment.
