Abstract

Answer D. Thirty chest compressions
The adult Basic Life Support algorithm stipulates that restoring circulation with good-quality chest compressions is important. Survival following a cardiac arrest is most influenced by effective compressions as well as prompt defibrillation. After an ambulance has been called, the next step is to provide 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths and then continuing this rhythm until a defibrillator arrives.
