Abstract

Answer D. Pheochromocytoma
Pheochromocytoma is a rare, catecholamine secreting tumour. It can present with episodic headaches, tremors, sweating, palpitations and hypertension. Presence of metanephrines and vanillymandelic acid (VMA) in a 24-hour urine sample is diagnostic. The differential diagnosis includes drug abuse, anxiety attacks and carcinoid syndrome. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice.
