Abstract

Answer B. Carbamazepine
This lady is presenting with symptoms consistent with trigeminal neuralgia. Carbamazepine is the first-line treatment for this condition. Ibuprofen might help but is not recommended as first-line treatment. Amitriptyline is usually used for chronic tension-type headaches and for migraine prophylaxis. There is only limited data available on the use of gabapentin and valproate.
