This young lady is likely to be describing a migraine. It is a throbbing sensation around her eye and is unilateral. The history also suggests some phonophobia. Acute rhinosinusitis would usually be accompanied by nasal symptoms. Giant cell arteritis is more common in the elderly population. Tension-type headaches are usually bilateral across the forehead and are characteristically a feeling of pressure or tightness. Trigeminal neuralgia is usually a sharp or burning pain around the areas of the face that are innervated by the trigeminal nerve.
