If a patient is found to have Helicobacter pylori infection, they should be treated with the recommended eradication therapy. This includes a 1-week course of either omeprazole 20 mg twice daily or lansoprazole 30 mg twice daily, as well as a combination of amoxicillin 1 g twice daily and metronidazole 400 mg twice daily, amoxicillin 1 g twice daily and clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily or clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily and metronidazole 400 mg twice daily (depending on any allergies or preferences or co-morbidities or possible drug interactions).
