You see a 59-year-old lady with a 3-month history of abdominal discomfort and bloating. There is no history of rectal bleeding or change in bowel habit other than intermittent constipation. She also complains of loss of appetite, although her weight seems stable. She has been through the menopause 1 year ago. Initial blood tests including full blood count, renal function, thyroid function and coeliac screen have come back normal.
