Abstract

Answer B. The Glasgow-Blatchford scoring system
National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance states that the Glasgow-Blatchford score should be used at first assessment of a patient presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding, with the full Rockall score being completed after endoscopy. An awareness of these scores and interpreting them is imperative in managing these patients. In semi-acute cases, where blood tests are taken and available, providing a Glasgow-Blatchford score as part of your initial assessment can not only guide your management but also aid in referral.
