Abstract

Answer B. Malaria
Symptoms of malaria are non-specific and may include fevers, headaches, joint pains and gastrointestinal disturbance. Patients can deteriorate rapidly and infection during pregnancy carries a higher risk of severe disease and mortality. A pregnant woman with suggestive symptoms and travel to a malarial region within the past year requires urgent hospital assessment and admission if infection is confirmed.
