Abstract

Answer C. Discuss with the on-call haematologist on the same day
One of the potential complications of chronic myeloid leukaemia is hyperviscosity syndrome. This can present with headaches, deafness and visual changes. Patients with a known myeloproliferative disorder who present with symptoms consistent with hyperviscosity syndrome should be discussed on the same day with the on-call haematologist for a possible admission.
