Abstract

InnovAiT is produced on a 3-year cycle. However, many articles do not significantly go out of date in that time. This section of InnovAiT summarises articles from the previous cycle of InnovAiT that GPs and GPs in training might still find useful today. The December 2019 issue included short articles on standing desks, passing the CSA and general practice in Denmark. Crammer’s Corner considered reflective practice.

Dr Keren E Wales and Mr Thomas Gray
InnovAiT 2019 12(12): 690–696
Urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine and affects 50% of women at some point in their lives. Assessment is important for GPs to advise on causes, management and referral. This article guides diagnosis and management, including medication, lifestyle modification and indications for referral.

This article outlines prophylaxis and management options, including indications for referral. Patients with recurrent UTI over age 60 years or with persistent haematuria should have urgent ultrasound and cystoscopy.
