Abstract

Answer A. Citalopram
All the options listed are reasonable medications to try for a patient with depression. However, citalopram can prolong the QT interval. With her previous history of palpitations and a diagnosed long QT syndrome, this medication should be avoided. Other medications that prolong the QT interval include clarithromycin and tricyclic antidepressants.
