Abstract

Answer E. Vasovagal syncope
The clinical picture is suggestive of vasovagal syncope. Vasovagal syncope is one of the most frequent forms of syncope. This can often be associated with certain provoking factors, such as emotional stress, pain, prolonged standing, unpleasant sight or smell, heat or dehydration. There will often be warning signs or pre-syncope prior to the episode of loss of consciousness. These can include feeling dizzy or lightheaded, nausea, sweating and blurred vision. The diagnosis can often be made with the history alone.
