Abstract

Answer A. Conservative treatment as self-limiting within 6–12 weeks
The clinical picture is suggestive of pityriasis rosea. Pityriasis rosea is typically a self-limiting condition and usually resolves spontaneously within 12 weeks. Watchful waiting and reassurance are therefore often the mainstay of treatment. Treatment options, if required, are for symptomatic relief. Once the secondary eruptions appear, symptomatic relief can be offered with emollients, oral antihistamines and medium-potency topical steroid creams.
