A case of CNS listeriosis of the monocytogenes type in a previously healthy 20-year-old man is described. This disease is very difficult to diagnose on the basis of clinical and laboratory findings alone, at least at the early phase of disease onset.
We describe the MR appearance and correlate the imaging findings with the patient's clinical behavior. The differential diagnosis and the problems encountered in the characterization of listeriosis lesions are discussed.
