Abstract

China has been very active externally toward its neighbors especially since Xi Jinping took the helm of China. China’s policy engagement has been very global with eyes at all the continents and oceans: Not only the Belt Road initiative covering the entire Eurasian continent but also in other continents like Africa where more than one million Chinese residents carry out business in competition with two million Indian residents; and not only the South China Sea where Southeast Asian countries have stakes but also the Caribbean Sea where China’s presence matters to the United States, Cuba and other Caribbean countries. What this special issue aims at is to look at China itself and Australia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Japan. The next issue published in December 2016 will include those angles of the United States, Russia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, the European Union. These two issues will help readers understand so little knowns and so many unknowns on the subject of China and Its Neighbors.
