This resolution included provisions which restricted Iran from investing in nuclear-related activities abroad, expanded the arms embargo, prohibited Iran from pursuing its ballistic-missile programs, and tightened financial sanctions.

This resolution raised concerns over Iran’s nuclear program, expressed the need for confidence-building to resolve the issues, and recognized that “a solution to the Iranian issue would contribute to global nonproliferation efforts, and to realize the objective of a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction, including their means of delivery.”
