Creating Social Value Centre at University of Maryland
The Centre for Social Value Creation (CSVC) is located within the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. CSVC aims to educate, engage, and empower the Smith School community and the world at large through thought-provoking dialogue, thought leadership and hands-on experience.
In the past year, CSVC has continued the Impact Consulting Fellowship, an 8-week programme consisting of students ranging from undergraduate to PhD who provide pro-bono consulting services for purpose-driven organizations. Since the summer of 2020, over 400 students have provided approximately 40,000 hours of consulting to 55 businesses and non-profits.
This past summer, CSVC launched the Research Impact Fellowship, a 10-week multidisciplinary programme in which fellows pursue academic research focused on promoting social impact through business. This summer was the first iteration of the Research Impact Fellowship, beginning extremely strong with 13 undergraduate students and 20 faculty leaders on 10 different research projects.
This fall, CSVC looks forward to hosting College Park’s Global Goals Jam from September 17th to 19th. Global Goals Jam is an international event in which over 85 cities across the world will be tackling pressing local-sustainability challenges related to the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development. In this year’s first ever College Park jam, multidisciplinary teams will come together to engage with local leaders and catalyze solutions for a more equitable and sustainable transportation system.
The Centre for Social Value Creation is excited to continue operations in-person this year and continue pushing to create a world where businesses operate for the long-term value of both people and the planet. To learn more about the centre visit ter.ps/csvc.
