Direct current iron plating without pre-etching and performance of iron deposit

Abstract

A new direct current iron plating technique without pre-etching was investigated. The cathodic polarisation curves of the iron plating solution were measured and a theoretical analysis of these curves was carried out. The influence of current density on the deposition rate and microhardness of the iron deposit was investigated. The effects of heat treatment on the microhardness of the deposit were also determined.
