Study on properties of electroless (Ni–P)–Fe 3 O 4 (nanometre) composite plated PET fabrics

Electroless composite plating of (Ni–P)–Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles on PET fabric was performed in the laboratory. The (Ni–P)–Fe₃O₄ coated fabric was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric and X‐ray diffraction analysis. The electromagnetic shielding performance and abrasion resistance were also measured. The results showed that the onset decomposition temperature of electroless composite plated fabric was lower than that of the original one. The shielding effectiveness of (Ni–P)–Fe₃O₄ plated fabric increased with increasing the add‐ons of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles. As compared with the Ni–P plated fabric, the abrasion resistance of (Ni–P)–Fe₃O₄ plated fabric became worse.
