Effect of Vessel Diameter/Thickness Ratio on the Behaviour beyond the Elastic Limit of Flush Nozzles in Cylindrical Pressure Vessels: Experimental Investigation
Three tests have been carried out on mild steel cylindrical pressure vessels with flush nozzles. The cylindrical vessels were nominally 18-in outside diameter and 3/16-in thick. The branches were nominally 3 1/2-in diameter x1/8-in and 3/16-in thick and 2 1/2-in diameter x 1/8-in thick. The results are discussed and compared with a similar series of tests for which the main vessel was 18-in outside diameter and 3/8-in thick.
