Abstract

It is with great pleasure I announce that Professor Yeon Hyeon Choe from Seoul, Korea has been appointed as associate editor and full member of the editorial board of Acta Radiologica.
Radiology is a worldwide specialty and does not know borders between professionals. Even if Acta Radiologica is owned by the national radiological societies in the Nordic Countries, the Journal has for a long time had a large base of readers and authors submitting manuscripts from all over the world. Acta Radiologica has now for some years observed steadily increasing submissions from countries in Europe and in the Far East, among them Japan, China, and not least Korea. This development is now reflected in electing Professor Choe as new full member of our editorial board.
Professor Choe was educated at the College of Medicine at Seoul National University in 1983. In 1986 he obtained a Master of Science in Medicine at the Graduate School, Seoul National University, and in 1991 he was awarded a PhD from the same University.
From 1983 to 1987 he served as resident at the Department of Radiology, Seoul National University Hospital. He was a research fellow at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 1993, and research fellow at the Department of Radiology, Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1994. In 2003 he was visiting professor in the Cardiac MR and CT Program at MGH in Boston, USA followed by a visiting professorship at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, UK. He now works at the Department of Radiology at the Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine where he is staff radiologist and chief of the cardiovascular imaging unit.
Professor Choe has been president of the Korean Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, and Secretary General of the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Imaging. He was also Secretary General of the Korean Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He has served on the editorial board of several national and international journals and is currently a reviewer for several journals. He is the author of about 160 peer-reviewed articles and has given 160 invited lectures.
Professor Choe's editorship reflects the ever-increasing importance of MRI and CT in cardiac and cardiovascular imaging and will substantially increase the competence of our journal in these very important parts of modern radiological imaging.
We wish Professor Choe a hearty welcome to our journal.
