Abstract
During the 15th year of JHSRP, 107 unsolicited manuscripts (original research and essays) were submitted. The proportion from the UK (47%) was similar to recent years, with 18% from the rest of Europe, 14% from North America and 10% from Australia and New Zealand. At the end of September 2010, 21 (20%) had been accepted for publication, 81 (75%) had been rejected, and five (5%) have been invited to submit a new version. At the outset we set ourselves a target of informing authors of our initial decision within 12 weeks. Over the 15th year the mean time was seven weeks. For the 26 papers published in volume 15, the mean length of time between submission and acceptance (including time to revise the manuscript) was 197 days (range 104–433) and between acceptance and publication was 103 days (online) and 188 days (range 113–246) for print issue.
