Geraldine Goodman has deposited the archive regarding the West family in the Special Collections Archive at the University of Birmingham. Her papers derived from these documents appear in the Journal of Medical Biography at 2003;
Charles Darwin, Evolutionary Writings edited by James A Secord (ISBN 978-0-19-920863-0), published by Oxford University Press, includes classic writings and autobiographies in a very readable format.
The gardening journal Hortus (2009;
Oliver Wendells' Holmes, Physician and Man of Letters, is a book published for the Boston Medical Library (ISBN 968088135 3792) with two editors and six authors. The writers include well-known medical historians in the USA and provides an overview of his wife, notes on his lectures, therapeutics, conversation and psychology together with many quotes. It provides a fascinating read.

On 24 March 2010 The Poynter Lecture will be delivered by Dr Ruth Richardson, Visiting Professor in Humanities to Hong Kong University and an Affiliated Scholar in History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge in the auditorium of the Conference Centre at the Wellcome Building, 183 Euston Road, London at 18h00. The Lecture, sponsored by the British Society for the History of Medicine (BSHM), is free and open to the public. The lecture is entitled ‘Promiscous and Inattentive Proceedings, The ethics and etiquette of patient care in the Georgian era’. In the afternoon, before the lecture, there will be a mini-exhibition of related texts, documents and pictures from the Wellcome Library collection. This is for BSHM members and their guests only. Once again The Wellcome has very kindly offered to provided drinks and simple refreshments between 17h00 and 18h00 for its members.
