Abstract

This is a compact, white coat pocket-sized collection of 50 gynaecological vignettes. Each small chapter is presented as a way of interpreting frequently encountered clinical presentations that could appear at any general practitioner's surgery or hospital-based practice. Each mini-chapter gives a background of any medical problem, 23 available therapies and treatments. There is then a discussion of ‘recent developments’ and a useful but brief list of references to aid further reading. There are no photographs but many excellent flow charts. All the authors are experts in their fields, and the selection of problems is wide ranging and comprehensively covered.
This inexpensive textbook could usefully be included in every gynaecological juniors' library, and all general practitioners would find it useful to refer to when meeting these fairly common problems. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this book.
