Dramatic onset of bilateral leg pain with inability to walk associated with coryzal symptoms in previously healthy children without clinical or laboratory evidence of serious pathology does not justify further investigation according to paediatricians from Greece. This case report describes an aneurysm sac, the posterior wall of which was absent and abutting the anterior spinal ligaments with erosion of the L4 vertebral body. A literature review identified another 17 documented cases. Computerized tomography and intraoperative images clearly identify the vertebral erosion.

Despite central line safety bundles to prevent line infections, little is done to monitor their migration. Although this is an uncommon complication, the consequences are serious and potentially fatal. Anaesthetists from the Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow, emphasize the importance of appropriate training in central line insertion to ensure correct placement.
