Abstract
An idea to fix broken nose pads of spectacles has been suggested.
Introduction
Nose pads are used in spectacle frames for support over the nose. There are a variety of nose pads available which suit various frames, noses and faces.
When the nose pads on my spectacles broke I could not find any suitable replacement anywhere, in India or abroad. I therefore designed nose pads using shirt buttons. They can be stitched on to most frames which support nose pads (Figure 1). The buttons, which can be single or double, can be stitched together and slipped into the framework. The colours, shape and size can be varied to suit the fashions of the day. I have been wearing these for the last 6 months and find them very comfortable.

Conclusion
Since buttons, needles and threads are universally available in every household, this is an easy way to overcome the problem of missing or broken nose pads – either temporarily or even long term – thus extending the life of your spectacles.
