The observed relationship between Earth's temperature and CO2 concentration in the atmosphere during glacial and interglacial periods from 420,000 years ago up to 1850 has still not been satisfactorily explained. It is proven that CO2 movements lag temperature, but why did the concentration move up and down in a regular pattern? No universally accepted conclusion exists that can be reliably used for modelling “what if” scenarios.
