The Necker cube was presented tachistoscopically and repetitively so that growth of satiation would be interrupted repeatedly and a critical level for reversals would not be reached. The preferred orientation under these circumstances was markedly altered when a non-reversing cube was interpolated for 4 sec. between successive presentations of the test Necker cube.
