Spontaneous movement responses of Negro and white lower-class and white middle-class 4-yr.-olds were recorded on video tape under several controlled conditions. Tapes were coded for total movement and for gross movement response. Negro children emitted a significantly greater number of movement responses and a greater variety of movement response than did both white groups.
