Academic psychologists and the extent to which they ate engaged in animal research in zoos and natural settings were surveyed by questionnaire. Of the 118 departments of psychology selected, 50 (42.37%) responded. Of these, 19 (38.00%) did not have faculty conducting zoo research, while 31 (62.00%) did. 928 full-time faculty members comprise the 31 departments, 46 (4.36%) are conducting research in zoos or natural settings.
