The incidence of accidental fall in 67,436 trauma patients was investigated for the period 1971–1995. Over-all a decrease in incidence was found from 1976 through 1995; however, notwithstanding the over-all picture a strong age-specific increase in the incidence was observed in persons of 80 years and over from 1981–1985 through 1991–1995.
