Written descriptions of physical characteristics and a questionnaire concerning personality traits were used to determine whether or not there is a perceived relationship between body type and personality. Results showed that stereotypes are held and that these largely correspond to Sheldon's original (1942) hypotheses concerning physique and ‘temperament.’
