Abstract
Omnibus Personality Inventory scores obtained before and after the professional education of 59 baccalaureate nurse graduates who favored, justified, were ambivalect about or were critical of a nurses' “strike” were compared. Significant differences were found among these various opinion groups on the Complexity, Impulse Expression and Non-authoritarian scales. (1) These opinion groups' median scores at graduation were significantly different, with the larger median scores in decreasing order shown by those who favored, those who justified, and those who were ambivalent or critical. (2) Those who favored or justified the strike were shown to have changed significantly between the outset of their professional education and graduation. Such differences between entry and graduation scores for the other groups were not significant. (3) The amount of change shown by those who favored the strike was larger than the amount of change shown by other groups.
