The present study examined pre-ratio pausing as a function of FR size (10, 75, and 150) and delay of reinforcement (0 to 180 sec.). Results indicated that pre-ratio pause-durations varied directly with both of these variables. Response rate, exclusive of the pre-ratio pause, was not related consistently with either FR size or delay of reinforcement.
