The development of a preliminary 32-item, self-report measure of existential anxiety is described. The measure yielded a reliability estimate (KR-20) of .89 for a sample of 237 undergraduates. A hypothesized inverse relationship between existential anxiety and need for achievement was confirmed, whereas a hypothesized inverse relationship between existential anxiety and test anxiety was not.
