Results of combined data for six encounter groups (containing a total of 37 male and 25 female college students) suggested no significant relationship between personal satisfaction and peers' evaluations of interpersonal effectiveness. Within individual groups, however, significant relationships did occur, suggesting that intra-group differences were more powerful than the over-all relationship between the two variables. Implications for group research were discussed.
