14 recent textbooks in abnormal psychology were reviewed, and an update on an earlier report was made. The earlier work dealt with “classics” in abnormal psychology, those articles written prior to 1950 which are frequently cited by textbook authors. This update dealt with popular articles from 1950 through 1970, and 26 articles cited by at least 6 of the 14 authors were designated “modern classics.” A review of selected aspects of these 26 articles was carried out and comparisons with the previous work were made.
