Three studies examined Adler's suggestion that firstborns are past-oriented. The first study of the relationship between birthorder and temporal relatedness and dominance in 37 female undergraduates yielded no significant differences. The second one compared the proportions of firstborns among 68 faculty members, majors, and non-majors in history, expecting a decrease in frequency with decreasing commitment, as was partially confirmed. Study 3 of the relationship between birth order and conservatism-radicalism gave no significant differences.
