Analysis of responses of 289 rural white, Hispanic, and Navajo adolescents to 10 items of the Problem-oriented Screening Instrument showed the 40 Navajo girls scored highest in over-all pathology followed by 40 Navajo, 55 white, and 51 Hispanic boys. Both the Hispanic and white girls (ns = 49 and 54, respectively) scored below the minimum mean score of 38 for pathology.
