The effect of provocation with cold dry air in the nose on nasal airway resistance was evaluated in patients with vasomotor rhinitis and in healthy volunteers in different body positions in order to determine whether this provocation test could be used to distinguish between normal subjects and those with vasomotor rhinitis. Cold dry air did not seem to be of any use in this respect, and the problem of finding a method suitable for practical clinical assessment of vasomotor rhinitis still remain to be solved.
