Impairment of Net Synthesis of Glutathione in Mouse Liver After Tourniquet Trauma. ∗

Summary

Net glutathione synthesis, occurring in mouse liver after S³⁵-L-cysteine administration, was estimated for mice with liver GSH previously depleted by use of bromobenzene or trauma. Evidence was secured that glutathione synthesis was impaired by trauma but not by bromobenzene, and that the trauma impairment was likely due to decreased capability of the liver to synthesize GSH rather than to lack of substrate.
