Summary
An interferon from FMDV-infected newborn calf kidney cultures is described. The interferon appears to be distinct from virus and virus-associated antigens. It is not virucidal, nor does it significantly affect attachment of virus to cells, but it reduces the cytopathic effect as well as the quantity of virus produced.
