An in vitro Effect of Insulin on the Preputial Gland. ∗

Summary

The present studies have shown that the glucose metabolism of the rat pre-putial gland is augmented by in vitro addition of insulin. Thus this modified sebaceous gland must be added to the list of insulin responsive tissues. The findings constitute the first direct evidence that the carbohydrate metabolism of epidermal tissues per se, may be regulated by insulin.
