Summary
A reservoir of free apotryptophan pyrrolase has been detected in unfractionated rat liver homogenates. The detection of this enzyme fraction is dependent upon its preservation by a gentle technique of homogenizing the liver sample. The activity of free apotryptophan pyrrolase was inactivated when livers were homogenized in a unit with rotor-knife blades.
